Five helpful things to know

Tip 01 — Short, Regular and Long

A 38S and 38L both have a nominal 38-inch chest, but sleeve and body lengths differ. The amount depends on the brand. See an example.

Tip 02 — Inches are exact, sizes aren't

1 inch is exactly 25.4 mm. But converting a size label between countries is an approximation that varies by maker and product.

Tip 03 — Ski boot markings are different

Mondopoint 26.5 typically references a 26.5 cm foot length. A boot's 305 mm boot-sole-length marking is a separate measurement.

Tip 04 — Compare the right measurement

Check whether a chart describes a body measurement, garment measurement or finished product measurement. They are not interchangeable.

Tip 05 — Fit is more than a label

Fabric stretch, pattern, preferred ease and brand-specific design all affect fit. Verify against the product chart before buying.

Mr. 360's check-before-you-buy routine

  1. Measure twice using the same units.
  2. Look up the exact product's official chart.
  3. Check whether dimensions describe your body or the item.
  4. Compare length and width separately.
  5. Read fit notes and returns policy.
